World Water Week
August 17-23, Stockholm
This event that is carried out yearly, from some years in Stockholm, and is getting greater importance to each new edition. This year was more than 1300 participants with emphasizing for the countries of Africa and Asia. From Latin America the number of representatives is still smaler compared to the Asian countries, 20 participants:
Argentina (1), Bolivia (3), Brazil (4) Costa Rica (3), Honduras (1), Mexico (7) and Panama (1).
There was a strong presence of a lot of donor multinational institutions from European countries, United States and Australia, where these are situated.
AIDIS was invited and was represented by its Elected President, Eng. Carlos Alberto Rosito, that participated of some events of the WWW2008, among which we emphasize:
1 - UN HABITAT about the WOP s:
- 1 Seminar about Reginal WOPs where the Elected President Rosito, made an apresentation about our WOP LAC;
- A “side-event” specific about Latin America, with prominent presence of interested, what probably will carry in the next year to have a specific Seminar on our region;
- A private “work-shop” about “Global WOP Alliance”, who assures the world coordination of the regional WOP s.
2 - WORLD WATER COUNCIL
- A Seminar sort of “Bazaar” about the Istambul V Forum, in march 2009;
- A “side-event” : On the way to Istambul;
- A social event, private as well, with the presence of WWC President – Loïc Fauchon.
3 - OECD
- A private meeting about “Sustainable financing to Assure Access to Water Supply and Sanitary”.
Above all the WWW2008 was a formidable catalyser of "networks", enabling very interesting contacts with our already traditional associates as WorldBank -WSP, BID, WHO, IWA, WWC, Cap-Net and United Nations, besides the opening of new chances as OCDE.

VI Inter-american Simposium of Biosolids
August 27th, 28th, 29th 2008, Rio de Janeiro
The VI Inter-american Simposium of Biosolids was carried out in Rio deJaneiro, Brazil, from August 27th-29th, 2008, in the Audience of the Miramar Hotel in Copacabana, with the presence of 130 participants of Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Spain and United States.
The Symposium included the execution of 4 boards on Processing of Mud; Production and Use of Biosolids; Energy Improvement; and case Studies (4). It counted besides, with 2 special arenas on Legislation in Latin America. For all the presentations were expositors guests, recognized in its respective countries mentioned, all of high level.

On the last day were presented 18 technical works, previously submitted to approval and acceptance by the Scientific Committee of the event, followed by discussions and explanations.
All participating received, in the occasion, a CD with all the content of conferences presented by the invited expositors, besides the technical works.

A visit to theProcessing Plant of Pavuna, where is a process of chemical stabilization followed by desidratation by centrifuges and thermal drying, was carried out for a group of 30 participants. A pleasant fraternization among the participants was carried out in 2 lunches and 2 cocktails, with the presence of all the participants as the guests.

III Inter-American AIDIS's Congress on Solid Waste
May 6th to 8th, Buenos Aires
The Interamerican Sanitary and Environmental Engineering Association, trhu DIRSA organization and with the whole support of the Argentinian Sanitary and Environmental Engineering Association, argentinian AIDIS chapter, is calling all of you to assist this congress, to keep on going trhu all the past DIRSA's events and congresses, wich ones already had Americas and Europa representatives.

AIDIS's C.E.O. opening
New final date to send your resume
AIDIS has begun the changing process in its Headquarters, following the Work Plan 2006-2008. Is opening a period to receive resumes for this CEO position, acting in São Paulo City, Brazil.
We report that was set new date for the presentation of resumes and begining functions for AIDIS's C.E.O. position.
The new limit date fort sending requests is September 15th, 2008.
The candidate selected should be available to take the charge on December 1st 2008.

3rd Inter-American Scholarship Editon
AIDIS-IIUNAM
Winner: Ingeniera Paola Nickole Quezada Castro
The Jury integrated to evaluate the requests received in time and form for opting to Inter-American Scholarship in Environmental Engineering IIUNAM-AIDIS decided unanimously to offer it to Engineer Paola Nickole Quezada I Neuter, from Honduras, Civil Engineer (Universidad Católica de Honduras).
