Petrobras Award will be offered to best work presented at the III Environmental Health Congress
May 14th-17th 2008, Quito Equator
The idea is to reward the best technical work presented in the III Congress of Environmental Health to be carried out in Quito, Equator on May 14th to 17th, this year.
The judges will be a commission of three people: one representing PETROBRAS, other one representing AIDIS and one representing AEISA.
The prize consists of presenting the winning work in Santiago Chile, in the XXXI Inter-American Congress of Environmental and Sanitary Engineering of AIDIS in one of the tables that DICSA will organize. So, foe this being possible, PETROBRAS is going to pay the trip, transfers; inscription in the Congress and the hotel for the winner.

"Clearing house" project AIDIS - DIRSA - IDRC
Milano Italy, march 10 to 12, 2008
The project of “CLEARING HOUSE” FOR MUNICIPAL SOLID WASTE INTEGRAL MANAGEMENT IN CITIES OF LATIN AMERICA AND THE CARIBBEAN, it was promoted and realized by the Interamerican Sanitary and Environmental Engineering Association - AIDIS, trhu DIRSA in coordination with IDRC - International Development Research Centre and the italian government funds, trhu its Ministero dell Ambiente e Della Tutela del Territorio e del mare,
DIRSA members whom participated in this project was: Francisco de la Torre (Equator), Marcos Alegre and Ramón Burga (Peru); Rosalba Sarafian (Argentina) and Darci Campani (Brazil) and as the project manager Pilar Tello, Inter-american DIRSA Director, all in the picture.
The clearing house, like as GIRSU and PDD from cities of Quito Ecuador, Pisco Perú, San Nicolás Argentina and San Leopoldo Brasil, were receipted with a lot of interest by italian institutions who participated, as: Canadian Emabssy in Italy, Instituto Italo Latino Americano, Coordinador de la Agenda 21 Italia, president of FERAMBIENTE, Empresa AMIAT de Torino, Minstrio degli Affari Esteri; Ministero de la Infraestructura de Italia, la agencia de protección al ambiente and servicios técnicos, Asesora de la coordinación internacional from Milano province, among others.
“Clearing House” project, created a web site http://www.residuosnet.dirsa.org , helping and teaching the municipies in solid waste management and the elaboration of projects of MDL.

Elect President of AIDIS talks of "Basic Sanitary Program"
Carlos Alberto Rosito Interview by Manoel Manrique from UN-Habitat
The elected AIDIS's President Carlos Alberto Rosito, defends that, to improve the quality of the sanitary services is necessary a competitive management.
"The resources to investiment are important, but the effective management is so or more important as the resources" said Rosito.
In this interview, Rosito talks about sanitary general view in Brasil and Latin America; the objectives of Millennium Goals.

Extended date to registrate Congress's Technical Works
New final date is on April 30th
We inform all National Chapters, Associated and AIDIS's members, that we moved the final date to receive Technical Works to be presented in the XXXI Inter-American Congress on Sanitary and Environmental Engineering to be carried out in Santiago, Chile in October 12 to 15, 2008. New reception final date in on April 30th, 2008.
