XXVI Center-American Congress and V National Congress on Environmental Sanitary Engineering
Success on Guatemala, November 2009

The Guatemalan Association of Environmental Sanitary Engineering (AGISA), Guatemalan Chapter of the Inter-american Association of Environmental and Sanitary Engineering (AIDIS), carried out in the city of Guatemala from November 8th to 11th 2009, the XXVI Central American Congress and V National Congress of Environmental and Sanitary Engineering:
Facing the climatic change and the disasters in the management of the Water resource.

The event included 130 participants belonging to the 6 countries of the region II of AIDIS (Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Honduras, Costa Rica and Panama), also of Cuba, Dominican Republic, Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Germany, United States, Russia, Colombia and Mexico.
Among the present authorities, were the Minister of Environment and Water Resources of Guatemala Dr. Luis Alberto Ferraté, the Representatives Miguel Angel Cabrera and Freddy Viana; the Lic. Elisa Colom coordinating of the presidential program "Agua Font of Peace".
AIDIS participants: Eng. Carlos Alberto Rosito, President of AIDIS, Eng. Pillar Tello, director of DIRSA, Eng. Gabriela Moeller, director of DISEP; Eng. Iván Estribi, Eng. Juan Manuel Martínez, both former Presidents of AIDIS; also the presidents of Chapters: Eng. Mirna Argueta of Honduras, Eng. Abdiel Batista of Panama, Eng. Nicolas Enclosure of El Salvador. All well hosted by the president of the Congress Eng. Martin Mendez, also president of AGISA (Guatemalan Chapter of AIDIS) and president of the Region II of AIDIS.

Water Security Plans (PSA) for Cochabamba
October 2009
By managements carried out by the Safety Water Alliance LAC, the CODESAB and ABIS (Bolivian Chapter of AIDIS), the support of the Latin-American Network of Plans of Security of the Water was obtained (RED-PSA/LAC), PAHO Bolivia, UN Habitat and UNICEF, to initiate actions that permit to initiate the implementation of pilot projects of PSA in the department of Cochabamba. To carry advance this initiative, it was created a Driving Committee responsible for promoting this initiative in the department.

The Eng Mirna Argueta of the National Autonomous Service of Aqueducts and sewer System of Honduras (President Honduran AIDIS Chapter), was the international expert responsible for qualifying the participants. Also it was present the organizer of the Latin-American Network of PSA, the Eng. Maria del Carmen Portillo.

XIII Labs on Quality Water and Processes Control
Santiago, Chile December 2009
We inform to our associates and habitual participants, that the Chilean Chapter of AIDIS is organizing the "Thirteenth Water Quality Laboratories Days and Control of Processes", pertaining to year 2009, that as usual, it will be in charge of the Division of Legislation and Norms DINOSA.
This activity, of especially technical character, year to year gathers the professionals of all the country that are performed in these areas of specialty, will be carried out during December, Thursday 3rd and Friday 4th in the Torremayor Hotel in Santiago City.

Results on 52 ACODAL Congress

Was carried out on Santa Marta, Colombia, on last September 22nd 2009, the 52° ACODAL Congress, colombian Chapter of AIDIS.
During the Congress, they debated themes related to: the national politics, framed in the Departmental Plans of Water as a solution to the historic problems of shortage in the provision to the population; regulation, control and caution.
