25° ABES Congress- Recife, Brazil
September 2009
ABES, Brazilian Chapter of AIDIS, closed in great style, with a board of seven of its former-presidents, the 25º Brazilian Congress of Sanitary Engineering, the largest one of all in a history of almost 50 similar years promoting events. The Congress, that had 3,400 recorded, was opened solemnly by the president of ABES, Ing. Cassilda Teixeira of Carvalho, with the presence of the governor of Pernambuco, Eduardo Fields, set against more than 2 thousand people in the Theater Guararapes, in Olinda, State of Recife.

The Congress had four days of works, with boards, roundtables, meetings, sessions of work, forums, seminars, courses and inclusive an unpublished Championship of Users, disputed by 16 teams of seven businesses and carried out by the first time in a congress of the sector.

In Olinda, Recife was carried out the major Congress on the 50 years ABES history. Rich, diversified, serious and full of proposals, the Congress innovated in many aspects, especially in the creation according to private and public sectors of the basic sanitary in Brazil.

Chilean TV show 'Nuestro Ambiente' - AIDIS Chile

AIDIS Chile (Chilean AIDIS's Chapter)
and the Facultad de Ingeniería de la PUCV invite you to chek out “Nuestro Ambiente”, an enviromental tv-show on UCV Televisión in CHILE.
Through a cycle of 12 programs, both Institutions carry out this initiative in order to contributing in the diffusion of the advances in environmental matter, to bring to light the new technological tendencies, as thus also to open a space for the analysis and discussion in the search of the better solutions for the challenge of medium and long time limit.

Workshop on Training on water safety plans - Cochabamba, Bolivia

IWA Water Loss 2010
Sao Paulo, Brazil 2010
With great satisfaction is we communicate the execution of the Conference on Lost of Water of IWA 2010 – Water Loss 2010 of the Group" Specialist Conference – Water Loss Task Force" in São Paulo, between May 30th and July 2nd, 2010.
The Conference is reference in the sector of sanitary by meeting the greater specialists on lost of water on a worldwide basis. Water Loss 2010 intends to present and to discuss the last developments, estrategies, technical and applications of the better international practices in evaluation of water loss management, control and reduction of loss and improvements in the measurement of the consumption of water. The Conference will be the 5º event in the series of the Conferences of IWA for the Reduction of Lost of Water.
The 4º event was carried out in the city of Tip in South Africa in May of this year and included more than 140 technical works and 450 participants of 43 countries. This Conference was located in São Paulo to discuss it complex of the reduction of lost in large cities that present shortage of water, besides tighten the relacionamiento of IWA with the Businesses of Brazil and of Latin America in this sector.

Workshop on Governance for Sustainable Sanitation Services
Enero 2010, El Salvador
From 27 to 29 January, IRC International Water and Sanitation Centre in collaboration with RRAS-CA (Red Regional de Agua y Saneamiento de Centro-America) and RAS-ES (Red de Agua y Saneamiento de El Salvador) organise a learning and sharing workshop on governance for sustainable sanitation services for Central America, supported by the Water Supply and Sanitation Collaborative Council (WSSCC). The workshop will take place in San Salvador. The objective of the workshop is to bring together experiences from the Central American region on efforts to strengthen governance for sustainable sanitation services, and draw lessons from these.

Dear coleagues and friends,
It is a pleasure to communicate that ABES will be anticipating actively of the organization of LATINOSAN in Foz of Iguazu, Brazil.
AIDIS, as in the previous event carried out in Cali in November 2007, will have an important action in the communication and disclosure of the event in each one of our Chapters. A new meeting of the Group Organizer was carried out in Recife, Brazil, with occasion of the XXV brazilian Congress. The coordinator of the Group of Organization, Marcus Vinicius, of the National Secretary of Environmental Sanitary of Brazil, kindly performed a presentation for the AIDIS's executive board in the meeting of September 24th.

Record Guiness on handwashing in the Americas!
October 15th 2009
To celebrate the Global Hand Washing Day, the schoolchildren of all the countries of the Americas are invited to establish a Record Guinness with the number of students who wash their hands with water and soap, at noon, on 15 October 2009. The activity is been promoted by the Forum for Central America and the Dominican Republic on Safe Water and Sanitation (FOCARD-APS), the Pan American Health Organization, UNICEF, WORLD BANK, COSUDE and Water Millennium Alliance, with idea of breaking a new record every year. Course on 'Toxicologia Ambiental' - FEMISCA
October 15th to 17th 2009
The Federación Mexicana de Ingeniería Sanitaria y Ciencias Ambientales A.C. (FEMISCA, A. C.), is the mexican chapter of AIDIS and altogether in a joint venture with the Universidad Tecnológica de Tula Tepeji Hidalgo, developed a 'Environmental Toxicology' Course.
